About Binge Eating Support
Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is the most common eating disorder in the United States. It involves recurring episodes of eating large amounts of food in a short period, often accompanied by feelings of shame or loss of control. BED is a recognized medical condition — not a lack of willpower — and it responds well to treatment including medication and therapy.
Common Symptoms
- Eating unusually large amounts of food in a short time
- Feeling a loss of control during eating episodes
- Eating when not physically hungry or until uncomfortably full
- Eating alone due to embarrassment about the amount consumed
- Feelings of guilt, shame, or disgust after binge episodes
- No regular use of purging behaviors (distinguishing BED from bulimia)
Our Approach
We use validated screening tools and a compassionate interview to understand your experience. If medication is appropriate, we discuss options that may reduce binge episodes and support healthier patterns. We coordinate with dietitians and therapists who specialize in eating disorders and follow up regularly to track progress.
